Robots. One of the greatest inventions ever made. They can build cars. They can drive vehicles. They can tidy your room. They can even do your homework. Even though this may sound nice, they could use this knowledge to take over our beautiful and exquisite Earth. Could they?

What is a robot? A robot is an invention that is programmed (using code) to do a certain job. For example, there are robots that can build cars etc. However, if this ‘robot’ can think for itself, then the world could have a very big blunder.

Robots possibly may not be able to take over the world. This is because, when someone is having a vital and very important surgery, they would prefer it if they were being treated by a human: not a robot, even if they felt the hand of the robot was soft like a human’s. If you saw an unknown robot on the street, and it abruptly told you all your thoughts and actions of the last 24 hours, it would feel creepy, wouldn’t it?

However, despite these facts, there is still a chance that Robots could rule the world. This is because a robot can reproduce itself very easily as it can build itself. Therefore, a robot could programme itself to make a machine that makes thousands of its type. Adding onto this, a robot is very intelligible, and it can develop skills by learning. Therefore, if robots all learnt from each other, they could use their brains, they could outsmart us, which would give them a huge advantage. As well as this, robots have all been programmed to do certain jobs and probably got some data about the job. If they use analogy and infer other things that could all be harmful to the world.

In conclusion, looking at either side of the argument, I believe that one day, robots could take over the world, and scientists must begin taking precautions now, before it is too late.
